Joanna Shake reached her 2018 fitness goal just under the wire. As of Dec. 27, Shake is now a member of the 1,000 club at Pure Barre Owensboro. For four years, Shake has been taking classes at Pure Barre.

“I am not going to lie — this is a big deal,” Shake said. “I have worked hard.”

Thinking of ways to celebrate this milestone, Shake and Pure Barre owner Annie McCrary chose to donate $1,000 to Girls, Inc. in honor of Shake’s 1,000th class.

“It was an easy decision,” Shake said. “Pure Barre empowers women to be their best — always offering encouragement and the enthusiasm — and that is what Girls, Inc. stands for.”

Girls, Inc. CEO Tish Correa-Osborne and four girls from the organization were at the studio to celebrate the donation and occasion with Shake.

Shake said this is first thing she has really “stuck with” and she now has a new goal — to make the 2,000 club in another four years.

“Work is stressful, so I need this escape,” Shake said of her attendance over the last year. In fact, during a bring a friend promotion that McCrary offered at Pure Barre, Shake brought the same friend for a month.

McCrary said Shake is the most selfless person she has ever met.

“She is super good, doesn’t ever want recognition for doing nice things — she is a secret-giver,” McCrary said. “She is just a cutie.”
